You can start yoga even if you're not feeling particularly flexible right now or haven't been to a class in a long time. For your first session, what matters most is a class whose pace suits you. With a bit of guidance beforehand, you can arrive, ask questions, and let yourself settle into the movements.

If you're looking for a yoga class in Halensee or Charlottenburg, Lokahi Loft offers a range of options. Which class suits your start depends on the level and how you like to practice. Our team is happy to help you choose.

Choose a class with the right pace

A class with enough time for explanations makes it easier to begin. In Hatha Yoga, poses are often built up individually and held with awareness. In Vinyasa Yoga, movements can flow into one another. How demanding a class feels also depends on how it's structured and on the individual teacher.

Feel free to mention when booking that you're trying yoga for the first time – that makes it easier to find a suitable time. We present our full range on our Yoga and Pilates page. You'll find the current class schedule in the ClubConnector app or the member area.

Prepare with minimal effort

Comfortable clothing you can bend and stretch in easily is enough to get started. Bring something to drink. If you have your own yoga mat, feel free to bring it along. Whether a mat is available on site, and what else you might need for your chosen class, is best clarified before your visit.

Arrive a few minutes early and introduce yourself briefly to the teacher. Mention that you're new and point out any limitations you have. That way they can show you suitable variations or explain which movements to skip at first.

Get to know the class at your own pace

Depending on the style, a class includes poses, breathing exercises and quiet moments. Some terms may feel unfamiliar at first. You're always welcome to ask questions, simply observe a movement first, or take a break. It's completely fine to choose a simpler variation.

Pay attention to how a position feels for you. Other participants' flexibility is not a benchmark for your first class. If something hurts, come out of the pose and talk to the teacher. If you have health concerns or are returning after an injury, clarify the suitability of the class medically beforehand.

Plan your visit to the Loft

Most of our yoga and Pilates classes don't require advance booking. Aerial Yoga does require a reserved spot, by phone or through the app. If you're visiting as a guest for the first time, arrange your visit through our trial day and club tour page and confirm your chosen class with us beforehand.

Take a moment after class to reflect on your impression. Was the pace comfortable? Could you follow the instructions? Would you like to take the same class again or try a different style? These questions help you gradually discover which form of yoga you enjoy.

Take a look at our yoga offering or get in touch with our team. Together we'll find a good starting point for your first visit.
